Richard Cornelius Beavers, an accomplished entrepreneur and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2025 at the age of 97. He was born in Washington D.C. on April 14th, 1928 to John and Pauline Beavers.
Richard came from humble beginnings and joined the Marine Corp in 1952. Following his military service, he explored several careers from opening restaurants to hanging his shingle in construction and real estate development.
Beyond his professional achievements, Richard was a man who stayed deeply involved with his family. He was a loving husband to his late wife Jean Beavers, and a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved boating, taking chances in everything he did, and making people laugh everywhere he went. His legacy of love and hard work will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean Beavers, and his siblings, William, John Jr., Eileen, Stanley, Elizabeth Gasch, and James.
He is survived by his children, Beverly Heiberger (Richard), Richard, Timothy (Cathie), and Michael. He is also survived by his grandchildren Price, Elise, Lindsay, Michelle, Bradley, and Timothy Jr., as well as his great-grandchildren, Isaac, Elliot, Adalyn, Sophie, Braylen, and Levi.
A private service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025 at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Talbot Hospice.
