Cotter Funeral & Cremation Care - De PereRichard Christensen Age 77 passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025.
He was born on February 22, 1948 in Green Bay, WI, son of the late Richard and Darlene (Thirion) Christensen Richard Christensen, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and service. He was a man full of life—charismatic, warm-hearted, and always ready with a smile or a story. Richard had a deep love for the simple joys in life—daily walks, good food, and deep, meaningful conversations. His sense of humor lit up any room, and his friendly nature drew people in wherever he went. He found great joy in nature and animals, especially his beloved dog, Walnut, who was often by his side. He enjoyed car rides and walks through Door County, Michigan, fishing and beyond. A natural athlete in his younger years, Richard enjoyed basketball, football, and had a lifelong interest in sports. He was also an avid fisherman, once earning recognition in the local newspaper for catching the biggest fish—a memory his family cherishes to this day. Richard worked tirelessly throughout his life, first on the railroad and later in sales. He was a dedicated provider and a hardworking man who never hesitated to help someone in need. His generous heart was also evident in his connection with Frontline Harvest Ministry and various community outreach efforts. He was a man of deep faith, choosing to follow Jesus Christ at the age of 61. Richard became a faithful member of Christ the Rock Church in De Pere, where he was known for his passion for learning, his commitment to studying the Bible, and his enthusiasm for sharing his faith with others. His favorite scriptures came from the book of Ephesians, the Gospels, and anything that spoke of heaven—his true home. Above all else, Richard loved his family. He is survived by his children: Richard (Brittany) Christensen, Beau Christensen, Rhonda Christensen, and Sarah Christensen, as well as 3 beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren and sister Bonnie and brothers Harry and Tom. His children and grandchildren were his treasure and joy, and he poured his heart into raising them with strength, love, and grace; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be held in his honor: Friday, August 1st, 2025 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at Christ the Rock Church 556 Main Ave De Pere, WI 54115 Richard’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and friendship. His impact will be felt for generations, and his memory will be cherished always. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Not of works, lest anyone should boast”. Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
The family of Richard would like to say Thank You to the nurses and staff of The Court at Eden Vista in Green Bay, WI for their wonderful care that they gave him during his stay.
