Richard Charles Everett Sr., 75, of Abbeville, Georgia, died Monday, June 30, 2025, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday July 3, 2025, at Mt. Olive Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
Mr. Everett was born June 22, 1950, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to the late James Edward, Sr. and Betty Ann Burton Everett. Mr. Everett served honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Patriot Guard and the past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 71. Mr. Everett held a PhD in Fire Science. He was a Fire Chief in Chicago, Illinois as well as Bernalillo, New Mexico. Mr. Everett enjoyed to hunt and fish and was a faithful Christian. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Everett of Abbeville; son, Richard (Vickie) Everett of Palmer, Texas; daughter, Loretta (Joseph) Smailis of Romeoville, Illinois; step-son, William (Tammy) Boaz of Marion, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother, James (Barbara) Everett of Elsinore, California. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Russell Everett and a grandson, Robert Michael Boaz.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
