FITCHBURG-Richard Kaddy, 81, a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, peacefully departed this world surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, May 24th, 2024. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, dedication to his family, and his zest for life.
Born and raised in Fitchburg, Richard devoted his life to hard work, serving as a roofer until his retirement at the age of 72. He took pride in his craftsmanship and was respected by all who knew him in his profession.
Beyond his work, Richard found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for car shows, spending quality time with his family, indulging in television, and engaging in lively discussions about politics.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Kaddy, in 2018, as well as his parents, Eva and Douglas, and an older brother. He is survived by a younger sister and brother. A sister-in-law Linda Antinelli and her husband Paul, brother-in-law Steven Auger and his partner Ann, and his seven children: Richard Kaddy and his wife Michele, Cheryl Kaddy and her partner Michael, Carrie Beland and her husband Daniel, Randy Kaddy and his partner Lucy, Rodney Kaddy and his wife Heather, Ryan Kaddy and his wife Tamara, and Courtney Kaddy and her partner Scott.
Additionally, he is survived by eight grandchildren: Laura Kaddy and her wife Nicole, Nicholas Kaddy and his partner Beatriz, Mark Kaddy and his wife Ivette, Eric Beland, Keith Beland, Chelsea Beland, Sean Beland, and Evan Kaddy, as well as two great-grandchildren, Mayven and Maverick.
Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devil-may-care attitude, and most of all the deep love he had for his family. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire generations to come.
A private wake will be held for immediate family and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the American Lung Association for COPD research.
