Richard King Obituary

Richard C. King, 76, of Cotuit, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born March 27, 1949, in Weymouth, Dick was a graduate of Weymouth High School (Class of 1967) and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he earned a degree in business and computer science. He was a proud member of the UMass golf team and won the Yankee Conference Championship during his collegiate career.
After graduating, Dick began a successful career in sales at Xerox. In the early 2000s, he partnered with longtime friend Brad Mitchell at Market Models, where he served as President and led the rapid growth of its Alumni Finder division. Following the sale of the company, Dick retired to Cotuit and devoted more time to his lifelong passion-golf.
A fixture in the Massachusetts and Cape Cod golf communities, Dick won numerous club championships and local titles throughout his life. He was especially proud of winning the Francis Ouimet Senior Championship in 2014.
Above all, Dick cherished his family and took great pride in passing down his love of golf and his competitive spirit to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara King of Cotuit; daughter Kristin Valiga (Jerimiah) of Centerville and Belize; son Geoff King (Emily) of San Antonio, TX; and son Daniel King (Elizabeth) of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves eight treasured grandchildren: Caroline, Jonathan, Nicholas, Foley, Marian, George, Anderson, and Anabel.
Visitation will be on Wednesday July 16, 2025, from 11am – 12pm in the Chapman Funeral & Cremations, John-Lawrence Chapel, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, MA., followed by a service at 12pm. Burial will follow in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.
