Richard Lewis, 75
Richard Lewis, 75 of McDermott, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1950, in Trenton, Michigan to the late Hassle and Helen Sparks Lewis. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Carol Twaddle Lewis whom he married July 3, 1969, a brother Ronald Lewis, and his sister-in-law Patricia Lewis.
Richard was a 1969 graduate of Portsmouth West High School and was a member of the Ohio Valley Truckers Association and the Teamsters, dedicating his life to the transportation industry. He began his career with Reinhart Trucking in Wheelersburg, OH. After gaining valuable experience, he founded his own company, Lewis Trucking, which he successfully operated for several years. Later in his career, Richard continued his journey on the road as an independent contractor with Bowling Transportation, where he remained committed to his work until retirement.
He is survived by his 3 daughters: Teresa (Rick) Powell, Christina (BJ) Henry, Jennifer (Jerod) Essman, brothers: Ben Lewis, and Michael (Debbie) Lewis, a sister-in-law Lana Lewis, and 7 grandchildren whom he adored: Cade Powell, Alexis Miller, Larrin Essman, Carson Powell, Brayden Lewis, Jacob Henry, and Haley Henry, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with interment in Scioto Burial Park. A visitation will be held on Tuesday starting at 11AM. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
