Richard Martin, 87, of Martensdale, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Richard Murry Martin was born on June 27, 1938, at the family home in St. Charles, Iowa, to Gordon and Frances (Murry) Martin. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1957 and married Nancy Wildin the following year, in 1958. To this union, three children were born.
Richard farmed for many years and worked as a computer programmer for Frye Manufacturing. In his later years, he traveled across the country delivering RVs. He enjoyed many interests and hobbies in his retirement.
He is survived by his son, Ronald Martin (Brenda Brown) of Winterset; daughters, Peggy Sheehan (Allan Goldberg) of Des Moines and Amy Anderson (Mark) of Winterset; grandchildren, Christopher Sheehan (Emily) of Ankeny, Jonathan Sheehan of Des Moines, Kaitlin Cupp (Grant) of Earlham, and Cody Anderson of Winterset; and great-grandchildren, Lucy, Nora, and Jack Sheehan, and Haylie Cupp. He is also survived by his former wives, Nancy (Wildin) Horn and Karen Taylor.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Phillip, David, and an infant brother; and his son-in-law, Rex Sheehan.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
