Richard Monroe, 81, of Bartonville, passed away at 10:21 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025 at his son's residence in East Peoria. He was born on December 9, 1943 in Peoria, a son of Edwin and Amelia (Behrends) Monroe. He married Marilyn Foster on December 24, 1961 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2021.
Also, preceding Richard in death were his parents, and brother, Kenneth Monroe.
Surviving is his sons, Brent Monroe of Des Moines, Iowa; Mark Monroe of East Peoria; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Jerry Monroe of Bellevue; Bill Monroe of Bartonville.
Richard worked and retired from Keystone Steel & Wire in Bartonville, after 45 years of service.
Per Richard's wishes, there will be no services, and cremation rites will be accorded through Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville. To leave online condolences please visit www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
