Saint Albans ~ Richard Clarence Nichols, Sr. a lifelong area resident passed away early, Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at the McClure-Miller Respite House with his loving family at his side.
Born in St. Albans on July 14th, 1940, he was the son of the late Clarence and Marguerite (Bessette) Nichols. Richard was 84 years old.
On October 9th, 1965, Richard married Sarah Chase, who predeceased him on March 27th, 2018.
Richard was schooled at St. Albans Bay and was a 1958 graduate of Bellows Free Academy. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vermont Air National Guard and continued to work there at the Air Base a majority of his life, half of his life was spent working there missing very few days, other than vacation. Upon his retirement he worked part time for Burt Paquin Ford and also owned Nick's Small Engine Clinic.
Richard was a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his daughters and son and their spouses: Lisa and Tony Sykes, Kim and Chip LeBlanc and Rick and Kim Nichols as well as his grandchildren, Allison (Cory), Kourtney (Lindsey) Brandon (Mandy) Kylie, Kaleb and great-grandchildren, Koopar, Khenzie and Charlie.
Richard is also survived by his brother, Dana (Penny) Nichols and a niece and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Marguerite and wife, Sarah (Chase) Nichols.
A graveside service with military honors will be held privately for his family at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
