Richard married Mary Elizabeth Swain on October 2, 1981, in Pittsburg, Texas (it's all Jodi's fault). He was a truck driver for over 35 years before his retirement.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Swain Nunley; Parents, W. H. Nunley Jr. and Patricia Ann Nunley; son, Richard Downey Nunley Jr. and wife; daughter, Elizabeth Dawn Nunley Thrush and her husband, Robert Thrush; son, Billy Joe Nunley and wife; and son, Karl Nunley; siblings, Leticia Burney (Artis), Gayle Cazalas, Butch Nunley, Cricket Thaxter (Rick); brother-in-law, Jesse Swain; grandchildren, Johnathon Thrush, Braxton Nunley, Jillian Nunley, and Brayden Nunley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Waddell; brothers-in-law, Paul Waddell and Melvin Cazalas.
The family will receive friends 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Sunday, June 29, 2025, at McWhorter Funeral Home.
