Richard Powers Obituary

Richard Thomas Powers, Sr., 65, of Madison, CT, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 5, 1960, in New Haven, CT, Richard was the son of the late Andrea Smith Powers and Thomas Powers.
Over the years, Richard held a variety of jobs, including positions at West Haven Motors, as a truck driver for several companies, at SNET/AT&T, and most recently with the Town of Madison. He took pride in his work and formed many lasting friendships along the way. Richard had a deep passion for cars, trucks, and motorcycles and was happiest when spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dogs. He was a proud member of the Branford Elks Club and enjoyed the camaraderie it brought.
Richard was a devoted husband to Lisa Jarmie Powers and a proud and loving father to Richard and Lauren Powers. He was predeceased by his sister, Maureen Powers Malis of Indianapolis, IN, and his nephew, Scotto Wolcott of Albany, NY.
He is survived by his cherished siblings: Eileen (Richard) Fabish of East Haven; Kevin (Jean) Powers of New Haven; Colleen Raucci of West Haven; Thomas (Nancy) Powers of Indianapolis, IN; Sean (Lisa) Powers of Seguin, TX; Shelia (Scott) Wolcott of Conyers, GA; Timothy (Carol) Powers of Branford; Danielle (Michael) Novella of North Branford; and James MacCormack of West Haven. Richard is also remembered with love by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects (visitation) at Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Rd, North Branford, on Tuesday, July 15, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter (branfordct.gov/departments/animal-shelter).
Richard will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and unwavering love for those around him.
