Richard (Ricky) Daniel Allen, age 67, of Cullen, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior July 12, 2025. He used positivity, humor, and grit to face the numerous battles and obstacles he faced.
Ricky was born May 17, 1958 in Elizabeth City, NC to the late John Clifford Allen Sr. and Ann Nash Adams, and was raised by the late James and Eloise Bryant. He was married to his best friend, Rose Chandler Allen for 47 years.
Ricky is survived by his son, J.R. Allen (Kim), daughter Shanna Agee (Ben), grandchildren Danner and Parker Allen and Garrison and Emma Agee, sisters, Cindy Bomar (Kevin), Brenda Gee, Gayle Harris and Barbara Hamlett (Donnie) and brothers Charles Allen and Ivan Bryant (Kathy), three sister in laws, Karen Scruggs (Doug), Carolyn Chandler, and Yvonne Allen, Jim Eanes & Jane Chandler and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and David Allen, his three brother in laws, Harold Harris, Wayne Gee, and Ricky Chandler, and sister in law, Mitzi Chandler.
Ricky was a hard worker, always providing for his family or those in need. He spent most of his years building the roads and bridges we often find ourselves using, and in retirement, he enjoyed working at Seay Milling in Dillwyn, Virginia. Ricky enjoyed playing golf at Hat Creek Country Club, where he was a member for 40+ years. He also enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, serving on the Cullen Volunteer Fire Department, and helping anyone who needed a hand. More than anything, Ricky loved watching his children and grandchildren excel in anything and everything sports related from golf to dance/cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, hunting, and baseball/softball. He always cheered loudly for every player, but his children and grandchildren were always his MVPs. Ricky made an impression anywhere he went and his caring and generous spirit will forever be remembered.
Family will gather at the home of J.R. and Kim Allen. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Spring Creek Baptist Church Darlington Heights, Virginia. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 12:00 PM, also at Spring Creek Baptist Church. In honor of Ricky’s life, memorial contributions can be made to the Randolph Henry High School Athletic Boosters.
