Richard Terence Teets, 66, of Dickinson, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Dickinson, Texas. He was born in Denton, Texas, on November 21, 1959, to Leslie Teets, Jr and Barbara (Bobby) Jean Teets where his dad used to teach at the college. He had a younger brother Todd and a little sister Meri.

He was a Boy Scout when he was a young boy and learned many skills and earned many patches. His mother was the proud den mother of that troop in Alice, Texas. Richard was mostly raised in El Campo where he had many good lifelong friends who were important to him on many levels. He was very close to his brother Todd.

When he was young man, he went to explore the world and found a man who did amazing, detailed woodwork and carvings and he learned everything he could. He made my Mom, Bobby Teets a beautiful turntable for her kitchen table and she was so very proud of the work he had done. He also made a potato bin for her, and she cherished it.

He sewed some wild oats as a young man, had many hunting and fishing adventures, loved to go camping and nature itself. Hobbies include deer hunting, all kinds of hunting, fishing, being outdoors, motorcycle and horseback riding. Hanging out with his friends and listening to hard rock & country music. He was a career electrician, carpenter and before that a roughneck

Richard’s favorite statement was “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

Ricky had 2 wives and 6 kids. His first marriage to Christy Libby-they had a daughter named Kira. And then his second marriage to Rhonda Starling -they had sons, Jeremiah, Justin, Jared, Jacob & Joey. He was very proud of his sons, and he made some Beautiful children.

Later in his life, he met Ruth Hockenberger with who enriched his Life in so many ways. He grew more & more as a Christian and a loving partner to Ruth. They both had a great relationship with his sister, Meri & Mother, Bobby. Although they didn’t get to spend much time together, it was Special when they did. Ruth cared for him in his last days on this Earth and she made sure he was as comfortable as he could be.

He will be missed, but we know he is no longer in pain and with God, his Mother, Bobby & his departed son, Jeremiah.

Richard is survived by his children, Kira Teets, Justin Teets and wife Christina, Jared Teets, Jacob, Teets and Joey Teets. Grandchildren; Iris, Lennon, Isaac Teets Tristan Teets and Waverly Teets. Siblings, Meri Teets-Disque and Todd Teets. He was Uncle to Meri’s son from her first marriage, Josh and to her husband Ken & Meri’s children, Nikki, Kelsea, Danen, and Kayti.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 612 W Jackson, El Campo, TX 77437. Friends may visit with the family from 1 – 2 PM.
