Richard "Dick" Wagner Sr., 72, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on 6/30/2025. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, loyal friend, and respected member of his community, Dick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sandy Wagner; his children, Rick Wagner and Erika (Blake) Reese; and his grandchildren, Rollin and Amalia Reese, who were the absolute light of his life. He also leaves behind his brothers Mitch (Sherry) Wagner and George (Jennifer) Wagner; his sisters Shelly Wagner and Natalie Grubelnik; his mother-in-law, Mercy Sandoval; sister-in-law Michelle Sandoval; and a large extended family of beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Pat Wagner; father-in-law, Elador Sandoval; brother-in-law, Frank Grubelnik; and nephew, Mike Grubelnik.
Dick proudly served in the United States Air Force. After completing his service, he made his way back to Huerfano County, where he cowboyed for Faris Land & Cattle and went on to build a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and strong community ties. He spent over 40 years serving southern Colorado with propane and gas and later owned and operated RW Service & Repair until retiring at age 67.
As an outdoor enthusiast, Dick loved hunting and fishing in southern Colorado and eagerly looked forward to those seasons every year, sharing that passion with the next generation. He was a die-hard sports fan who especially loved his teams, the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and CU Buffs.
Dick was a man of quiet strength, a generous spirit, sharp wit, and deep devotion to his family. His humor, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all he touched.
A private family gathering will be held to honor his life.
