Richard "Rick" Dean Whisenhunt, age 67, of Versailles, Missouri, passed away on July 21, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Rick was born on September 19, 1957, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, to Jimmy Whisenhunt and Phyllis Cottle. He later lovingly bonded with his stepfather, William "Pepa" Gober, who played a treasured fatherly role throughout Rick's life. On September 10, 2015, Rick was united in marriage to the love of his life, Netta Roark, in Versailles, Missouri. Their bond was one built on laughter, faith, and shared devotion to family and community. Rick proudly served his country in the United States Navy and carried that same spirit of service into his civilian life. He spent many years working as an appliance technician for various companies. After retiring, Rick devoted his time and energy to helping others, serving as a board member and dedicated volunteer at Food for Morgan County and also volunteering with New Hope Christian Community. A man of many talents, Rick found joy in gunsmithing, woodworking, and creating art through drawing. His greatest joy, however, was found in the company of his beloved family and grandchildren. Whether it was planning small adventures, taking the grandkids to church at Lake Side Community Church, or simply sitting together and sharing stories, Rick poured his heart into those he loved. His optimism was infectious; he often reminded others that most problems could be solved with a good night's rest. Rick Whisenhunt touched the lives of many as a devoted member of his community and a loving family man. He was a proud Navy veteran, husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His spirit uplifted those around him, bringing smiles and warmth to countless faces. He is survived by his loving wife, Netta Whisenhunt; his mother, Phyllis Gober; children Richard Glen Whisenhunt (Danielle), Charles Collins, and Marabeth Maxwell (Aspen); grandchildren Mason O'Banion, Caprice Maxwell, Jaxon Maxwell, Alison "Ali" Whisenhunt, Daniel "Danny" Whisenhunt, Keeghan Whisenhunt, Jace Whisenhunt; and siblings Jimmy Whisenhunt (Gail) and Susan Mitchell (Brad). Rick is preceded in death by his biological father, Jimmy Whisenhunt; his stepfather, William "Pepa" Gober; his stepson, Keagan Collins; and his son, Jerry Whisenhunt. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Rick's memory. Memorial Contributions can be made to the family to help assist with cremation services. Cremation Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home Versailles Chapel.
