Rick Cahill Obituary

James Clark Cahill, affectionately known as Rick, passed away on January 24, 2025.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ 07068 (shookfarmer.com). A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell. Cremation services will be private.
Born in Glen Cove, NY, he lived in Maplewood before settling in West Caldwell. Prior to his retirement, he worked on Wall Street as a municipal bond trader and analyst. He retired from LSEG. Rick was a longtime parishioner of St. Aloysius Church, where he served as a lector and on the finance council.
Rick was pivotal in the formation of the New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation, where he served as chairman. Along with other members of the foundation, he worked tirelessly to orchestrate the memorial Empty Sky in Liberty State Park. The memorial honors the victims of 9/11, including his son, who perished that day.
He was predeceased by his parents, Francis Clark Cahill and Ann Napier Venetianer, and his son, Scott Walter Cahill (9/11/2001).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda B. Cahill (née Hamm); his devoted son, Patrick James Cahill; and his fiancée, Kennedy Strombeck. Also surviving are a host of extended relatives and dear friends.
