Rickey "Rick" L. Pitzer, 67, of Hutchinson, passed away July 9, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. He was born May 31, 1958, in Hutchinson, to Clarence and Carol (Birt) Pitzer.
Rick was a 1977 graduate from Nickerson High School. He worked for Doskocil Companies (which later became Tyson Foods) in construction and production for 37 years. Rick enjoyed sports, especially playing softball and golf, for many years. Recently, Rick's favorite activities included working in his yard, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.
Rick was a member of Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.
On June 10, 1978, Rick married his high school sweetheart, Kim Miller. They recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Rick is survived by: beloved wife, Kim Pitzer; daughter, Melissa (Kristopher) Strait, Centerton, Arkansas; son, Jason (Brooksie) Pitzer, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Blake Strait, Jackson Strait, and Samantha Pitzer; sister, Kay (John) Hermes, Hutchinson; father-in-law, Orvin Miller, Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Scott (Susan) Miller, Ames, Iowa; brother-in-law, Todd (Cindy) Miller, Hutchinson; sister-in-law Debra Pitzer, South Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas J. Pitzer; and mother-in-law, Peggy Miller.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at Journey Mennonite Church, 808 S. Poplar, South Hutchinson, Kansas. Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at West Liberty Cemetery, near Windom, Kansas. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2025, with family present from 2 to 4 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Journey Mennonite Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
