Rita Ann Brown, 74, of Medford, died Monday, October 27, 2025 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
She was born May 20, 1951 in Chicago to Chester and Frances Werra. She grew up in Chicago where she also attended school.
In 1974, Rita moved to Weyauwega where she met William "Bill" Brown. On March 5, 1974, they united in marriage. Rita and Bill resided in Waupaca, then in 1988, moved to Crivitz.
In 1991, they settled in Medford where they have been since. Rita worked as a secretary for Weather Shield until her retirement.
Rita enjoyed playing sports including softball, volleyball, and later golf. She also enjoyed playing pool, reading, knitting, playing Candy Crush on her tablet, cheering on the Packers, and traveling with Bill.
She is survived by her husband Bill of Medford; daughter, Staci (James) Fourtounis of Medford; stepdaughters, Amy Brown of Milwaukee and Mimi Murphy of Florida; a brother, Frankie (Jeannine) Werra of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Aaron Brown of Medford, Dominic, Desiree and Daniel Brown, all of Milwaukee, Jordan Manson of Las Vegas, NV, and John Maahak of La Crosse.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Eddie, Danny and Arlette.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford with Rev. Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Waupaca.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are appreciated and may go to Little Lamb Daycare at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Rita was the kindest fun sister-in-law anyone could ask for. I never ever saw her without a smile. This world and our family lost a beautiful Christian woman. Until we meet again Rita.
