Rita Market Obituary

Rita M. Market, 82, of Columbus, OH, died Friday morning, August 8, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born December 1, 1942, in Lima, OH, the daughter of the late Harold V. and Edith M. (Kohler) Stroh. On December 31, 1960 she married Jerry E. Market and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1998.

Survivors include 3 children, Steve A. ( fiancée – Sterling Silva) Market, Arlington, OH, Julie A. (Rick) Naus, Columbus, OH, Dennis A. Market, Columbus, OH; grandson, John (Summer) Huddleston; step-grandson, Gavin Naus; great grandchildren, Khloe, Brooklyn, Ava, Danielle; siblings, Jim (Jan) Stroh, Hilton Head Island, SC, Sue (Dave) Howe, Wapakoneta, Judy (Joe) Lenhart, Wapakoneta, Mary (Larry) Copeland, Wapakoneta, Patty (Bob) Heller, Hamilton, OH, Mike (Peggy) Stroh, Wapakoneta, Diane (Bruce) Schweitzer, Crescent Springs, KY; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Rita retired in 2004 as a television programmer with WOSU TV and Radio, Columbus. She was a 1960 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta, and a member of the former St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus. Rita loved watching sports and was a huge fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with Fr. Ethan Hoying officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, and 9-10 a.m., Thursday, August 14, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
