Socorro Cejas Salas, fondly known as "Coring" to her friends and loved ones, was a devoted mother,
grandmother, daughter, friend, teacher, and faithful servant of God. She was welcomed into the kingdom of
Heaven on August 23, 2025, concluding a life marked by unwavering faith and boundless love. Born on
September 25, 1938, in the beautiful town of Jagna, Bohol, Coring was a beacon of light and wisdom to all who
knew her. Her final days were spent surrounded by love of her family and friends in
Staten Island, New York,
where she peacefully passed away of natural causes.
Coring's life was a testament to the value of education and the impact one person can have on the
many lives of many. After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education and furthering her studies with credits
towards a Master's Degree, she devoted her career to shaping young minds and hearts with patience and love.
For 20 years, she taught 1st grade at Faraon Elementary School, and for another 14 years she taught 3rd grade
at Canjulao Elementary School. For more than 3 decades, she was not only a teacher of lessons, but a mentor,
guide, and inspiration to countless children. Her impact lives on in every student she touched.
Coring's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lived her life as a testament to the
teachings of Christ, exemplifying the virtues of compassion, patience, and kindness. She found solace and
strength and peace from her daily prayers, especially through her devotion to the rosary and her faithful
attendance at Mass. Her faith-filled presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to those around her.
Her interests also reflected her zest for life and her love for the arts. Coring took great pleasure in
watching "Dancing with the Stars," experimenting in the kitchen and inviting her loved ones to taste her new
recipes, spending quiet hours reading books, and traveling with her family, creating memories that will never
be forgotten.
Coring was the beloved wife of the late Artemio Lacre Salas, who passed in 2011, and the loving
mother of the late Arnold Salas, who passed in 1991. Though she carried the weight of these losses, she
continued to live with faith, resilience, and love. Her legacy is carried on by her 2 beloved daughters: Sandra
Salas Abcede and her husband Elzevir, and Stella Salas Bersamen and her husband Daniel. She was the proud
grandmother of Jezer Sam, Vince Gerald, Mary Angela, and Danzel Luke. To each of them, she gave her heart,
her guidance, and her unconditional love.
Described by those who knew her best as thoughtful, faith-filled, and loving, Coring was the
embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman. Her hands were never idle., her heart always open, and her spirit was
forever anchored in love and faith. Her warmth, her smile, and her gentle guidance will be deeply missed by
all.
As we bid farewell to Coring, we are comforted by the knowledge that she has found eternal rest in the
arms of our Lord. We rejoice in the life she lived, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave. While we
mourn her loss, we also celebrate her rich and fulfilling life, knowing that her spirit will continue to guide us
from above.
Socorro Cejas Salas' life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of grace, resilience, and
unwavering faith. As we reflect on her journey, we are reminded of the profound impact one life can have on
so many others. We honor her memory by living out the values she held dear and by keeping her spirit alive in
our hearts. She is now reunited with her husband Artemio and son Arnold, and her soul rests peacefully in
God's embrace. Rest in peace, dearing Coring, until we meet again.
