Robert Bennett Obituary

Robert D. Bennett, age 90, of Wakefield passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on April 20, 2025.

He was born in Wakefield on July 5, 1934 and was the son of the late Elmer F. and Jennie M. (White) Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was a lifelong Wakefield resident. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He had worked for and retired from the Wakefield Public Schools after many years serving as the custodian at the high school. Mr. Bennett was always seen walking or riding his bike through Wakefield center.

He was the father of Donna L. Bennett of Wakefield and John R. Bennett of Dorchester. He was the grandfather of Madison Bennett and Robert John Bennett and the great grandfather of Azaela Luka Bennett. He was the brother of the late Edith Garrett, Richard Bennett, Irene Surette, May Malonson, Margaret McQuarrie, Christine Mayberry, Bernice Collins, Nelson Bennett, Thomas Bennett, George Bennett, Donald Bennett, and Richard Bennett. He is also survived by his niece, Barbara (Surette) Duncan, whose friendship he appreciated dearly.

A Graveside Service will held at the Saint Patrick Cemetery, Elm St., Stoneham on Tuesday, April 29 at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
