Robert Allen "Bob" Bortolotti, 65, passed away on February 28, 2025, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Born on June 26, 1959, in Elkhart, Indiana, to parents Lawrence and Barbara Bortolotti. He married Tracy Davies on October 29, 1988. Bob lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an undeniable passion for bringing joy to those around him.
Bob graduated from Irving Crown High School in 1977 before continuing his education at Western Illinois University, where he earned his degree in 1986. Though his professional career was in the field of information technology, those who knew him best understood that his true passion was found in the kitchen. A gifted cook with an extraordinary palate, Bob had an uncanny ability to recreate any dish he tasted-even after just one bite. His wife Tracy often remarked that he had a chef's palate, a talent that made every meal he prepared unforgettable.
Beyond his culinary skills, Bob was known for his quick wit and endless supply of jokes. His humor brought light to every gathering, making him a beloved presence among family and friends. He also found great joy in music and was an active member of the church choir at First United Methodist Church, Cary United Methodist Church and Epworth United Methodist Church. His gentle spirit and warm presence left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bob is survived by his four loving children and four grandchildren: Austen Lehto with Adia and Cyril of Ohio; Trisha Lehto of Arizona; Jamie Bortolotti of Texas; and Lydia Bortolotti with Emerson Schneider and Hazel Gendron of Ohio. He is also survived by his siblings Keith (Mary) Bortolotti, Ellen Bortolotti (Jim Simons), Nathan (Elizabeth) Bortolotti, brother-in-law Jeff Kalupski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Barbara Bortolotti, wife, Tracy Bortolotti and his sister Amy Kalupski.
Bob's legacy lives on through the love he shared, the meals he cooked, the songs he sang, and the laughter he inspired. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
No service will be held at this time. The family will be holding a private celebration of his life. Memorial donations may be made payable to the family care of Lydia Bortolotti through the Walker Funeral Home or to the American Diabetes Association.
