It was this sense of kinship that he carried into his own family life, marrying the love of his life, Patricia, and becoming the cherished father of Joan Marie Shaver, Robert Jr., Thomas, and James. His legacy continued to blossom with the joy brought by his grandsons, Matthew and Timothy Shaver.
After serving with distinction in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, Bob returned home to lay down roots in Ellicott City, MD, where he lived out his days surrounded by the community he helped foster.
