Robert Collins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McElyea and Owens Funeral Group on May 19, 2025.
With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Robert J Collins, born on February
9 th, 1967, and deceased on May 16 th, 2025. A funeral service will be on May 27 th,,2025at 2:00 pm
at the Community Church in Prague, Oklahoma
Robert is survived by his wife of 10 years, Cristy Collins, his daughter Rhianne Collins, and
stepchildren he considered his own, Jesslyn Collins, Kaiden Collins, and Amanda Blackmon. He
is also survived by his father, Bobby Jo Collins, Margret Cross, his sister, Sherry Hester, and
brother Billy Cross.
Robert was born in Stewart Virginia, to Margret Martin and Bobby Jo Collins. Robert
left home right after high school graduation for the US Army and was trained as a heavy wheel
mechanic. He served in the military for sixteen years, by the time he was twenty-one he had
been all the way around the world. His tours of duty included serving several tours across
Germany, deployment to Desert Shield and the Desert Storm missions, where he received
multiple combat patches. Robert was stationed twice at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where he
completed his service under the 44 th Corps Support Battalion, the 22 nd Transportation Detachment
in 1995. Robert was a well-respected and decorated soldier. During his service, Robert earned
(3) associates degrees and attained the rank of Sergeant.
When Robert completed his Army service, he moved to Oklahoma where he started his life with
Rebecca, with whom he served in the Army and her daughter, Amanda Blackmon. Robert and
Rebecca had one child, Rhianne Collins, but he was a father figure to many. Robert, Rebecca
and the girls enjoyed an adventurous life and enjoyed horse camping and trail riding as often as
possible. He also supported the kids junior rodeo and playday events.
Robert always wanted to see young adults thrive and amount to greatness. He helped many
people through some of the hardest times in their life. There are so many more young lives that
he took under his wing and tried to protect, and help them grow and figure out who they are. He
might have been intimidating if you just glanced at him, but he was one of the easiest people to
talk to. No matter how old you were, you could always count on Dad to be there and listen or
give a helping hand up when you fell down.
He worked at Real-O-Matic for approximately18 years before beginning a career in crane repair
and inspection. There wasn't much that he could not fix.
He loved his tractors and animals. He found peace in working on the farm that he and
Cristy had built together. Many hours of love and labor had gone into their farm, they struggled
through many things together but stuck it out because they knew God would provide. Robert and
Cristy had gone on many adventures together, many road trips. They found joy in finding things
off the beaten path to explore. Even just going for a drive and seeing what is around you, maybe
even find some tractor parts.
Robert was an active part of The Hitching Post Cowboy Church, Robert and his family
had followed Darrel and his family for 16 years. Working together to build a place of worship.
Robert was passionate when it came to the Lord, and was quick to remind someone when their
faith was wavering that even if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you could move
mountains with God by your side.
