Born September 24, 1971, in Los Angeles, California Died June 4, 2025, in
Auburn, CaliforniaBob was a vibrant, accomplished man who died a tragic and untimely death. He is mourned by all his family and friends including a group of childhood friends who call themselves his "Chosen Family".
Bob was a compassionate person who loved us all despite our faults. He was the first to offer help to anyone in difficulty. He had a wicked sense of humor and a gift for conversation. He adored all animals, wild and domestic. He was a supporter of the arts and the environment.
Bob was born to Robert E. DeMontigny and Catherine Lescinskis who divorced amicably in 1972. Bob was raised by his father and stepmother Kathleen Demontigny in a loving extended family. He also spent lots of time with his adoring grandparents, Joseph and Christine DeMontigny and his aunt, Angelina Caballero and her children Tina and Adam.
Bob attended schools in Arcadia, California where his parents made their home. He made life-long friends in grammar school, Boy Scouts and high school. It wasn't until Bob was 40 years old that we heard of this group's adventures of running through the storm sewers of our hometown. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1989. After graduation Bob worked while attending community college. Bob moved to San Francisco in 1997. There he met his future wife, Kathryn, and entered the pension consulting industry in 2001.
Bob and Kathryn were married at his parents' home on June 26, 2004. He and Kathryn settled in Chico where Bob was employed by Associated Pension Consultants in 2006. He and Kathryn welcomed their beloved sons, Skyler (born in 2006) and Ronen (born in 2009). Bob was a wonderful dad who provided his boys with many interesting and enjoyable experiences. He promoted their curiosity and their quest for excellence.
Bob and Kathryn bought a home in Chico which they remodeled to suit their lifestyle. There they enjoyed entertaining, gourmet cooking, vegetable gardening, and caring for their boys and their many pets. They traveled extensively with their sons. The family had a special fondness for Disneyland where they spent many happy hours.
Bob had a successful career at Associated Pension Consultants. His intelligence and personability, as well as his work ethic propelled his rise in the firm. He became Vice President of Operations, developing and implementing processes to continue to poise APC as an industry leader in the third party administration space.
Bob made time every year to meet up with his beloved childhood friends. The bonds that formed in grammar school have only grown stronger through the years. They are a group which loves and supports each other to this day.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathryn, his beloved sons, Skyer and Ronen, his parents, Robert and Kathleen Demontigny, his sister, Renee Clark and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob will be missed by all. His tragic and untimely death has left a crater in all our lives. The members of his family vow to carry on his legacy of kindness, responsibility and compassion in honor of his memory. Our hope is that he now rests "in God's peace which surpasses all understanding." With love and gratitude for his time with us, we surrender his energy and goodness to the universal spirit.
A memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a memorial scholarship fund to be established in Bob's name. Donations can me made through the following link: https://gofund.me/19a987dc
