Robert DeWitt Obituary

Robert E. DeWitt, 84, of Oswego, passed away Saturday October 11, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 18, 1941 in Chicago; son of Everett and Eleanor (Adams) DeWitt. Later in life, Eleanor married Bob's stepfather, James Lannefeld, who was like a father to Bob and his sisters Donna and Joyce. Bob proudly served 5 years in the United States Navy. He worked as an engineer in the manufacturing industry for many years and he holds many patents in the water irrigation industry as well. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and boating on the Fox River with his wife Carolyn. Bob was a very creative inventor, was a lover of cats and dogs, but the most enjoyment he would receive was when he got to spend time with family and friends. Bob is survived by his 2 children; a daughter Laura (Tim) Jankowski, and a son Greg. 2 grandchildren; Jacob Mills and Regan DeWitt. A sister; Sue (Dave) Kysar and a dear niece Cathy Deshon along with many other nieces, nephews and other relatives. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn, and 2 sisters; Joyce Weller and Donna (the late Jim) Musket. A private family service will be held.
