Mr. Robert Emanuel Dodson, beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the age of 86. He was born November 4, 1938 on the family farm near Plains. He was the son of the late Bob Wells Dodson and the late Susie Lansford Dodson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, baby Mary Sue Dodson, Elizabeth Dodson Williams and his Brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Bett Womack, Mr. Dodson is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara O'Neal Dodson, a son Robert Wade Dodson of Ellaville and his granddaughter Kendall Dodson of Tifton. He is also survived by a niece, Glover Womack Coats and Nick of Bronte, Texas and a nephew, Bartow Williams and Leslie of Buena Vista and a number of cousins. He was a graduate of Plains High School and served six years in the National Guard. Mr. Dodson was a successful Farmer and retired December 2003 as a rural letter carrier with over 45 years of service. On October 5, 1996, The Georgia Department of Natural Resources recognize the R.E. Dodson Farm on Bob Dodson Road in Plains as a Centennial Family Farm. He his wife Barbara were honored at the luncheon and ceremony at the Georgia National Fair in Perry. The farm has been in continuous operation for over 100 years. When he retired, he enjoyed gardening, going on daily walks, reading from his Bible, and spending time with his family and friends. As long as his health permitted, he was a faithful fourth generation family member of Central Baptist Church in Americus of which his great grandfather, Armstid Dodson was a charter member.
