In Loving Memory of Robert Jackson Hicks Jr. "Bobby"
December 17, 1952 - October 2, 2025
Robert Hicks Jr., lovingly known as "Bobby," left this world peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his family at home in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
Bobby, born on December 17, 1952, in Texarkana, Texas, was the firstborn child of Claudia and R.J. Hicks. He was the start of a family filled with love, loyalty, and faith.
Bobby's life was truly a shining example of unwavering integrity, deep compassion, and incredible inner strength. Everyone who knew him admired his calming presence and steadfast demeanor, finding comfort and kindness in his company. Whether he was lending a helping hand, offering heartfelt encouragement, or simply being there in the most important moments, Bobby brought light and reassurance to so many lives. He loved the simple joys-the warmth of family gatherings, laughter shared around the dinner table, and tranquil mornings spent savoring a cup of coffee. In these moments, his gentle spirit and genuine appreciation for life shone brightest, leaving a legacy of love and grace that continues to inspire us all.
Bobby devoted his life to public service, beginning with 13 dedicated years at the Houston Fire Department. There, his steadfast commitment to serving others truly flourished, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and the community. Bobby's deep sense of purpose later led him to law enforcement, where he found his true calling with the Austin Police Department. For 26 years, he served with honor, distinction, and unwavering compassion. Known for his exemplary professionalism and steady leadership, Bobby touched countless lives-both within the department and throughout the city. His colleagues and those he served will long remember his profound kindness and strength of character. After a remarkable career, Bobby retired with the utmost respect, leaving an enduring legacy of integrity, courage, and selfless devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A true adventurer at heart, Bobby embraced life with open arms and an open road ahead of him. He found joy in the freedom of travel, and together with his wife, Rebecca ("Becky"), he created lasting memories on countless trips across the country. The open skies and winding roads reflected the spirit in which he lived - with courage, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for every moment. Of all the places he explored, Colorado held a special place in his heart - his home away from home - where the stillness of the mountains brought him peace, perspective, and joy.
Bobby's heart of gold and selfless nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His lifelong friendships were built on loyalty and genuine care, and his quiet strength made those around him feel safe, valued, and loved. To know Bobby was to know kindness, and to lose him is to feel the absence of a genuinely good man.
