Graveside services for Mr. Robert L. "Sonny" Jimerson Sr., 89, of Longview, formerly of Rusk County, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at New Salem Cemetery with Travis Orr officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, August 20, at the funeral home. Mr. Jimerson passed from this life on August 16, 2025, in Longview. He was born February 27, 1936, in Rusk County to the late Robert Alvin Jimerson Sr. and Lottie (Freeman) Jimerson. Sonny lived most of his life in Longview. He enjoyed working and was a hard-working man. Mr. Jimerson worked in pipeline construction all over the United States and the world for different companies, and he would retire as a supervisor. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed his trips over to the casinos. More importantly, he absolutely loved and adored his children and grandchildren. Sonny was also a founding member of Longview Baptist Temple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Lois Jimerson, daughter Sonya Jimerson Sierra, and his siblings Philip Wayne Jimerson, William Ray Jimerson, Billy Gerald Jimerson, and Geraldine Jimerson Blalock. Survivors include his daughters Elizabeth Vercher and husband Bobby of Longview, and Sherry Price and husband Jeff of Henderson; son-in-law Ralph Joseph Sierra of Longview; son Robert Jimerson Jr. and wife Debbie of Hallsville; siblings Robbie Watson of Henderson, and Robert Alvin Jimerson Jr. and wife Elaine of Bryan; sister-in-law Janice Jimerson of Henderson; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
