With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert James “Bobby” McCracken of Skidmore, Texas on March 29, 2025, at the age of 84.
Bobby was born on June 9, 1940, in Skidmore, Texas to Irving McCracken, Sr. and Edith Malone McCracken. He was a lifelong resident of Skidmore and a proud graduate of Skidmore-Tynan High School. When he was old enough, Bobby followed in his older brother, Irving’s footsteps and enjoyed raising animals and competing in the Junior Livestock shows. He was a talented baseball and basketball player. In 1959, Bobby’s team made history by being Skidmore-Tynan’s first boys’ basketball team to participate in the State Championship. During his senior year, Bobby was voted "Most Courteous."
Bobby was a devoted son and caring brother. His dedication and commitment to caring for his elderly parents was unparalleled. A humble man known for his integrity and love for animals, particularly his pets and goats.
He is survived by his brother, Irving McCracken, Jr. (Carolyn) of Leander, along with nieces, Stephanie Hedrick of Midland and Amy Maddox (Jeff) of Liberty Hill; nephew, Scott McCracken (Diana) of Grapevine; and his great-nieces and nephews.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Irving and Edith McCracken, as well as his grandparents, Frank and Emma McCracken, and Thomas and Cora Malone.
The family is deeply grateful to Reagan Mortensen and Ronnie Olivares, both of Skidmore, for their unwavering friendship and support to Bobby over the years.
