My heart is heavy as I say goodbye to my dear Uncle Rob, who was a proud Vietnam veteran-someone I spoke about often in my classroom, because his service, strength, and quiet dignity inspired me deeply.
Anytime I saw Uncle Rob, he always made it a point to tell me how proud he was of the work I was doing. That meant the world to me. And when my daughter had the chance to study abroad in London, it was Uncle Rob who stepped in to help make that dream a reality. He never wanted anything in return-he just asked her to "make the world a better place." That was the kind of man he was: selfless, generous, and full of faith in the future.
One of the joys of these past couple of years was seeing him show up on the weekends to eat breakfast with me and my mom. Somehow, when I was visiting, he and Uncle Fat would magically appear. It was never planned-but always perfect. Watching my mom´s little brothers come around just to check on her touched me more than they probably ever knew. That´s what real love looks like.
I will forever be grateful for Uncle Rob´s support, his presence, and the way he showed up for all of us. He made a lasting impact on my life, and I´ll continue to share his story-because he deserves to be remembered.
Rest well, Uncle Rob. Thank you for your love, your legacy, and for making the world better just by being in it.
