Robert Kledis Sease, 78, of Newnan, GA passed away Tuesday, July 8th, 2025 due to injuries suffered from a motorcycle accident. He was surrounded by family at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
Bob was born on April 19th, 1947 in Cherokee, Iowa to the late Edmund Dolar Sease and Elaine Anna Kledis Sease. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Sandi Nelson (2012), brother Ron Sease, and sister Mary Heidick.
Bob grew up in Cherokee, Iowa but spent much of his childhood in Fort Dodge, IA after moving at age 11. He was a 1965 graduate of Fort Dodge High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, upon the advice of his father, and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War.
As a Boatswain Mate 3rd Class, he served in the US Navy from April 1st, 1966 until his honorable discharge on December 1st, 1969. After boot camp at San Diego Naval Training Center, on July 15th, 1966, Bob was assigned to USS Procyon AF-61 that home ported at Alameda Naval Station in California. The Procyon was part of the US 7th Fleet and participated in the Vietnam War by providing logistic support to Task Force 77 units. While Bob served on the Procyon it made 4 West Pac deployments to Vietnam serving in the South China Sea with ported stops in: DaNang, An Choi, Cam Ranh Bay, and Vung Tau while assisting units on Yankee Station as well as to Operation Market Time patrol craft along the coast. For his service, Bob was awarded the National Defense Service Medal/Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal/Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal/Ribbon.
After his service, Bob attended the University of Minnesota and studied photojournalism. He met his dear Sandi in April of 1970 and they married on September 6th, 1975 in Gowrie, IA. They lived in Minneapolis, MN, Wheaton, IL, Des Moines, IA, Fort Dodge, and finally Gowrie where they raised their two children: Niki and Dylan. Living by his mother's words of: "we don't judge them, we just love them", he showcased his soft heart and gentleness as a beloved father. Bob and Sandi shared a love for the water, and Bob owned several sailboats throughout his life.
Bob moved south to Georgia in 2016 after growing tired of the Midwest winters. He began fostering dogs, sometimes upwards of 20 at time, which would later coin him his road name: 'Bowzer.' He found community at the local VFW hall where he met his lovebug Alice in April 2018. They married on June 4th, 2020 in Newnan, GA and enjoyed many beautiful cross-country rides on his Harley-Davidson. In October 2024, Bob co-founded the Roosevelt Riders branch of the 'Nam Knights Motorcycle Club and was named Vice President.
Bob was known for his great sense of humor and his zest for life. He never turned down an opportunity for a good time and approached everyone with kindness and openness. Bob loved the outdoors and when he wasn't on the open road or open waters, he preferred to be hunting and fishing. Bobby cherished time at the cabin in Iowa with his brothers, swapping stories about a colorful life that was well-lived. He will be dearly missed and nothing will be as fun without him.
Survivors include his wife Alice Sease of Newnan, GA; daughter Nicole Nelson-Sease (Mel Battistoni) of Glenview, IL; son Dylan Nelson-Sease (Paige Gesicki) and granddaughter Quinn Sease of Somerville, NJ; step-granddaughter Abigail Chaffin (James Reese) of Newnan, GA; brother Ed Sease (Barb Sease) of Des Moines, IA, Randy Sease (Pam Becke-Sease) of Hartley, IA; several treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many 'Nam Knight brothers throughout the country.
