Robert L. "Bob" Shirk, 66, lifelong resident of Raymond, passed away Friday afternoon, July 11, 2025, at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center with his devoted family by his side.
Bob was born February 11, 1959, in Marion and attended Marysville High School. A veteran of the Army National Guard, Bob worked as an autobody man for several years before retiring as an associate for Midwest Express.
A savvy guitar player on both acoustic and electric guitars, Bob could play and teach just about anything to his family and friends. He enjoyed collecting the guitars he played, and amassed a large collection of Indian artifacts and baseball cards over the years. He also relished his gun collection and enjoyed going shooting. Not a "fair weather" fan, he remained steadfast in his loyalty to the Cleveland Browns, and NO ONE could bad mouth them in his presence.
Very spiritual in nature and a dog lover at heart, Bob was a homebody with the skills to rival any handyman. He could build or fix anything, and would help anyone in need. That was simply Bob – he was thoughtful, admirable, and he showed up for the people in his life. He was incredibly proud of his family, especially his kids and grandkids, and he made their lives reminiscent of a storybook upbringing. He was big on holidays, decorating and going the extra mile to bring the magic to Halloween and Christmas, and he always made sure the kids knew they were thought of and loved. He just had a way of making everyone in his life feel they were special.
He is survived by his partner in crime of 28 years, Terri Nicol; sons Clint (Somer) Nicol and Jacob Nicol; grandchildren Avery and Sloane; siblings Mark (Denise) Bell, Lester (Peggy) Alloway, Judy (Rob) Edmonds, Amy (Mark Malzone) Alloway; "adopted son" and good friend Thomas (Sharla) Fuqua; special cousins Jerry & Debi Shirk; his dog, Duke, who never left his side; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Bob was preceded in death by son Jason L. Shirk; mother and step-father Alice & Lee Alloway; and infant brother Stephen Alloway.
A gathering of family and friends will be announced and held at the Liberty Township Hall in Raymond shortly.
Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Bob's family, and condolences may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
