Robert "Bobby" Wayne Vilas was born on February 11, 1947 to Robert Sr. And Maggie Vilas in Ponsford, MN.
Robert grew up in Ponsford where he attended school. Robert later moved to Minneapolis where he met his partner in crime (Donna). They were together for 49 years. Robert had his family of three girls Robyn, Carlene, Cheryl and six grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Robert like to give all his loved ones nicknames so if you got a nickname from Robert, you knew he loved you very much. Robert worked as a bus driver for a couple of agencies. Then moved to White Earth Urban Office, then on to the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe where he eventually retired for health reasons.
Robert's passion was driving, he could drive anything no matter how rugged and old. Robert also loved going to the Casino especially when he could win,
Robert is survived by his life partner: Donna Hanks; daughters: Robyn Hanks (Danny), Carlene Hanks (Tony), Cheryl Hanks; stepson: Jeff Hanks; six grandchildren: Charlie, Chase, Austin, Aaliyah, Tykie and Tony Jr; six bonus grandchildren; a sister: Toni Vilas; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many community members.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, grandparents, sisters and brothers.
