Robert Washington Obituary

Richmond Hill - Mr. Robert Washington "Bobby", 82 husband of Mrs. Ethel Washington entered eternal rest, June 21, 2025 at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong native of Chatham County and a graduate of Alfred Ely Beach High School.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for over twenty years until his retirement in 1998 - including serving during Operation Desert Storm. He obtained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (CMSGT).
He was an active member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the Usher Board.
He was affectionately called "Bobby" by his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He lived a life defined by service, loyalty, intellect and will be greatly missed by all those who came to know him.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Michael Washington and Anna Bell Washington.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Ethel Smith Washington of Richmond Hill, two daughters: Rhonda Fitzgerald of Albuquerque, NM and Melissa Gibson of Jacksonville, FL; four sons: Michael L. Washington of Hinesville, Robert L. Washington of Montgomery, AL, Andre Washington of Savannah and Jerryn Washington of Manhattan, KS; sisters, Katie Snead of Savannah, Bettie Polite of Garnet, SC, Virginia Thompson of Savannah, Jessie Williams of Monteith, GA, Barbara Joseph of Savannah and Veronica Hiriams-Adams of Ashtabula, OH; one brother, Edward Washington of Savannah; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grands, host of nieces, nephews other relatives, church family and friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church, 16525 GA Hwy 144 East, Richmond Hill, GA 31324 Interment will follow in Bryan Neck Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
