Robert J. Wickett (Bob, Bobby, GP), aged 96. Born the third child to the late Raymond and Leona (Kennard) Wickett in St. Marys, PA in 1929. Passed away at home on July 3, 2025, in Lancaster, CA. Raised in St. Marys, Bob worked at Keystone Carbon until enlisting in the Army in 1950. Honorably discharged in 1952, he moved to Niagara Falls, where he worked at International Graphite as an overhead crane operator. In October 1956, he married Mary D'Angelo at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Niagara Falls. They moved to California in 1957, along with many other families from the Niagara Falls area.
Bob was a genuine, positive person. He loved life, family and friends, and travelled as often as possible to visit family in PA, NY and OH. He enjoyed socializing and visiting and was always quick to lend a hand. He sang and played guitar from a young age, with family at reunions and parties, with friends, and at home (only one volume complaint remembered here!). Bob enjoyed rebuilding and working on older cars and trucks, fishing, playing cards, going out to breakfast, sharing vegetables from his terrific garden with neighbors, barbecuing on the beautiful patio he'd built, taking trips to visit his daughter and granddaughter, and road trips in general. He loved dogs; his German Shepherds Nero, then Smokey, both lived to ripe old ages. He was a truck driver, retiring after 30 years, and won a semi tractor-trailer backing contest at the Antelope Valley Rural Olympics in the early 80s. (He met and spoke with Chuck Connors on a run to Tehachapi many years ago; think of Bob if you ever catch a rerun of The Rifleman)!
He is survived by his wife Mary of 68 years, son Michael, daughter Theresa Mullins (Patrick, deceased), one favorite granddaughter Isabella, sister Beverly Card, and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Fedorko, Patricia Tucker, and Lorraine Streeter; brothers Carl, Raymond Jr., Melvin, Thomas, and baby James.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass, on July 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 565 W. Kettering Street, Lancaster, CA. Interment at Good Shepherd Catholic cemetery will be at a later date. If memorial donations are desired, please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
