Rodney Halajian Obituary

Rodney F Halajian passed away at the age of 76 on Thursday, May 22, 2025 in Watertown, SD.
Graveside services will be 11:00am, Friday, June 20, 2025 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown with military honors by the American Legion Post 17 in Watertown and the US Air Force Honors Team from Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Rodney was born in Watertown, SD on April 18, 1949 to Thomas C Halajian and Joyce (Lundborg) Halajian. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1967.
Rodney joined the US Air Force in December 1968 and after completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, was sent to Wichita Falls, Texas for training as a communications technician. He was then stationed at a USAF base in central Turkey. Upon returning to the US in 1970 he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base near Oklahoma City.
Rodney married Shirley McNealy while in Oklahoma who has since passed away.
When his enlistment was complete in 1972, he returned to Watertown, SD. Rodney worked at the family business, Halajian Janitor Service, and then moved to Phoenix, AZ and worked as a supervisor for a swimming pool maintenance company. In 2015 he moved back to Watertown to retire.
He is survived by his sister Kay (Mark) Kiewell, his brother Thomas Jerry (Sandra) Halajian, and his sister Kim Halajian, and many nieces and nephews.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Joyce Halajian, his wife Shirley McNealy, his sister Sonya Halajian, and his sister Amber Halajian.
