Roger Dawson, 73, of Atoka, died Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Methodist North Hospital. He was born in Dyersburg on May 30, 1952 to the late Charles Clark and Dorys Elizabeth Lambert Dawson. He was a retired cotton broker.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Bailey Dawson; two daughters, Amy Lenagar (Heath) of Brighton, Emily Simpson (Craig) of Covington; four grandchildren, Jack Bailey Simpson, Dawson Simpson, Parker Simpson, Riley (Colby) Burgess and his brother Charles Dawson of Dyersburg.
Roger Dodger, as known by his friends, was a simple man. He lived with 3 women and learned to be "the peacekeeper" early in life. He loved a good steak, a good drink, and all sports, especially his Dallas Cowboys and his Tennessee Vols. He loved watching all things his grandchildren were involved in from baseball to barrel racing. He loved his family more than anything. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as the best father, husband and grandfather.
The family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church in Covington from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Graveside services will be private.
The family requests memorials be directed to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 https://www.stjude.org Cremation services are under the direction of Curry Funeral Home.
