Roger William Gates, age 58, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on July 6, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1966, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, to the late Albert Gates and Betty Oninski Gates. While he was his father's son, he later shared a deep and lasting bond with his mother, Betty, and her husband, Chester Fluger.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army for seven years, with one tour in Desert Storm. He had lived in the Dayton area for the past five years and was a devout Christian who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, boating, and bass fishing.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Albert Gates; his loving parents, Chester and Betty Fluger; a brother, Eugene Gates; and a sister, Patty.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda Poshka Gates; his son, Sharrod Morrison; and two grandchildren, Tealah and Tydan Morrison. He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Scott and Tammy Wimes, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and will announced at a later date.

My condolences to Rhonda & his family. I only met Roger one time when my daughter & I stayed at a vacation rental of his. He & I had many great conversations & it felt like I knew him for years though we´d just met. Rest in peace Roger & may the love of our Lord surround you .
