Ronald Gene McNeely, fondly known as” Ron” passed away peacefully at Barnes Jewish Hospital on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on Thursday, March 7, 1946, in Indiana, where he developed a lifelong passion for the Indiana Hoosiers, proudly cheering for his team with unwavering loyalty.
Ron embraced the simple joys of life and developed a love for classic cars. He took pride in his Chevy SSR, a beautiful car that he often showcased at local car shows, earning numerous trophies and the admiration of fellow enthusiasts.
A warm and welcoming spirit, Ron never knew a stranger. He cherished his weekly gatherings at Hardee’s with friends, where conversations flowed as freely as laughter. In his earlier years, he found solace in fishing, often spending quiet hours by the water. Gardening was another passion; Ron took great joy in tending to his flower beds, bringing vibrant colors to his home.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Leslie McNeely and Rebecca “Parker” McIntosh, one sister, Pauline Sisson, and three brothers, Cordell McLemore, Jimmy McLemore and Don McNeely.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, of 31 years Linda McNeely, and the cherished memories they created together, he also leaves behind four children, Melanie Davis and husband Tony, Melissa Hayes and husband Tony, Chris McNeely and Greg McNeely and significant other Janissa, three step-children, Scott Gabor and wife Tabatha, Rodney Gabor and Tracy McVey, fourteen grandchildren, Ashley Owen, Taylor Davis, Morgan McNeely, Dalton McNeely, Meade McNeely, Coty Wells, William Johnson, Isaiah Couch, Kayla Gabor, Keegan Gabor, Lucas Gabor, Izabella Gabor, Easton Gabor and Karter Gabor, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Evalee Stidham, along with several family members and close friends.
Ronald was a devoted family man as a father and “Papaw,” he was a source of strength and unwavering support, always making time for his family and instilling in them the values of kindness and compassion.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral home in Bonne Terre on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until service time of 1:00 P.M. offering family and friends the opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy. Pastor John Gidden will be officiating. Ronald McNeely will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the laughter he brought into our lives and the love he shared with those around him. May he rest in eternal peace.
