Ronald Gene Prewitt, 81, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025.
He was born on April 10, 1944, in Braymer, Missouri, the son of Sterling and Celia (Slover) Prewitt. Ron grew up with a true blue-collar country childhood on what is now the Bonanza Nature Reserve-without indoor plumbing or television, but with plenty of farm mischief alongside his cousins. He attended Cowgill Elementary and graduated from Braymer C-4 High School in 1962. On June 21, 1975, Ron married Ronda Wright in Archie, Missouri, and together they made their home in the Braymer community.
A lifelong athlete, storyteller, and lover of the outdoors, Ron carried his humor and grit from childhood fields to the slow-pitch softball tournaments of the 1970s, from his days at Midland Brick & Tile (later Glen-Gery Brick) to the friendships he made as a security guard in Kansas City. Known for his resilience and wit-even throughout his cancer journey-Ron often summed up his outlook with simple honesty: "I've had a good life, kid."
Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He and Ronda were married for 50 years, raising their children and celebrating countless milestones together. Loyal, hardworking, and endlessly proud of his family, Ron cheered at games, told unforgettable stories, and created a legacy of laughter, authenticity, and love. He will be remembered for his self-deprecating humor, his gift for connecting with anyone, and the way he made people feel both safe and seen. Above all, he will be deeply missed by the family and friends who were lucky enough to share his remarkable journey.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; brothers-in-law Kenny Turner and Pete Hayworth; and an infant grandson, Sawyer. He is survived by his loving wife, Ronda Prewitt; daughter Zo Foley and grandchildren Lindsay, Lacey, and Molly; son Brett Prewitt (Shelley) and grandchildren Courtney and Carter; daughter Season Kerns (Mitch) and grandchildren Maverick and Phoenix; daughter Kendall Anderson (Aaron) and grandchildren Miley, Charlie, and Hudson; son Spencer Prewitt (Tim); daughter McCall Collins (Andy) and grandchild Sterling; six great-grandchildren; sister Lois Turner and nephews Raymond, Ronnie, and Larry; sister-in-law Kay Hayworth and nephew John; as well as many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer C-4 School Athletics Department (checks payable to "BHS Athletics Dept," with "Ron Prewitt Memorial" in the memo) 400 Bobcat Ave, Braymer, MO 64624 or to support the outstanding caregivers at Saint Luke's Home Care & Hospice through the Saint Luke's Foundation (

A celebration of Ron's life will be held at the Lions Building in Braymer on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 2:00–5:00 PM.
