Ronald Lee "Ron" Schroeder, 82, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Schowalter Villa. He was born in Goessel, Kansas on November 19, 1942 to Ralph and Ruth (Frey) Schroeder.
He attended a one room schoolhouse and later attended high school in Goessel. Ron attended one year at Tabor College. From there he went into voluntary service, working as a Psych Tech at Kingsview Hospital in Reedley, California.
He married LaVonne Widmer on December 22, 1966. They resided in Hesston and had two children, Chad and Amber Dawn.
Ron loved all things outdoors; hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching. He also enjoyed singing with many different groups over the years. He was happiest when surrounded by his family.
Ron was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church. His faith was important to him and he served the church in many different roles.
On August 4, 2001, he married Nancy Conrad. They resided in Moundridge until Ron's diagnosis of dementia became more debilitating.
Ron worked in a number of different roles. He spent time as a Psych Tech at Prairie View, followed the harvest, drove truck and lastly, worked at Methodist Youthville in the school as a Crisis Interventionist.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ruth (Frey) Schroeder.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Hesston; son, Chad (Shelley) Schroeder of Salina; daughter, Amber Dawn (Tim) Near of Goshen, IN; sisters, Jan (John) Sommer, and Sandy (Steve) Conrad; grandchildren, Hannah (Adam), Abigail (Alexander), Gracie, Isabel, Corielle, and Jacob; and one great-granddaughter, Eleanor.
Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Schowalter Villa Chapel.
