Ronald Aschman Obituary

Ronald Ascheman, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Benson, Minnesota, on June 21, 2025, surrounded by love and family. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, Minnesota, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday, June 27, 2025, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Church of the Visitation Cemetery in Danvers, Minnesota.

Ronald Edward Ascheman was born June 6, 1941, to Henry and Rose Ascheman and a large family which included 13 brothers and sisters. He spoke very fondly about growing up in Fairfield Township and going to Appleton High School in Appleton, Minnesota. Ron met Donna Wersinger at the Fiesta Ballroom in Montevideo, Minnesota. They were married at 21 years old. Ron and Donna moved to Bloomington, Minnesota, and had three children (Mark, Dan, and Denise) while they lived there. Ron worked for Opus Construction as a construction worker. He moved back with his wife and three kids to Danvers where he started his new business, Ascheman Oil, which has been in business for 59 years. While in Danvers Ron and Donna had three additional children (Tim, Tom, and Tricia.) In 1989, Ron bought Ascheman Propane. It is a family business where he worked closely with his sons Mark and Dan, daughter Denise, and son-in-law Dave. In addition, Ron also had the pleasure of working with his nephew Bill and grandson Mason. Ron retired and resided in Benson.

Ron was a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, and a friend to many. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Donna Wersinger, and together they raised six children: Mark (Laura) Ascheman, Dan (Karen) Ascheman, Denise (Dave) Fath, Tim (Diane) Ascheman, Tom (Staci) Ascheman, and Tricia Ascheman. His legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren: Jessica (Wes) Stettner, Mason (Trisha) Ascheman, Brandon (Laura) Ascheman, Paxton (Breanne Eng) Ascheman, Nathan (Emily) Ascheman, Madison (Kyle) Fischer, Nicole (Cole) Vergin, MaCartney Ascheman, Brady (Emma) Ascheman, Jacob Fath, and Dylan Ascheman—each one a special source of pride and joy. A true family man at heart, Ron’s greatest passion was simply being with those he loved. Whether it was telling stories, lending a hand, or quietly showing up when it mattered most, Ron’s presence was always a comfort.

Ron owned and operated Ascheman Oil and Propane where he built not just a business, but a reputation for kindness, hard work, and integrity. A man of strong Catholic faith, he lived his values humbly and consistently with a deep appreciation for life’s simple blessings. Ron wore many hats in his life - and wore each one with pride. He served in the Army National Guard, was a longtime member of the Danvers Fire Department, and gave back to his community through years of service on the Danvers City Council. Ron also shared his faith as a youth minister and served on the church council, always leading with kindness, humility, and a heart for others.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his six children; eleven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters Bernice Wente and Rita Johnson; brothers-in-law Virgil Mesenbrink and Jim McRoberts; and sister-in-law Connie Ascheman.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rose Ascheman, and his siblings (spouses) Richard (Margaret, Liz) Ascheman, Harold (Ann) Ascheman, Rose Ann McRoberts, Melvin (Margo) Ascheman, Margie (Merlin) Beyer, Agnes (Franklin) Miller, Carol Mesenbrink, (Don Johnson), (Dave Wente), Baby Girl Triplet Ascheman, Roy Ascheman, and Bob (Diane) Ascheman —no doubt greeting him with open arms, a few jokes, and maybe even a game of cards.
