Ron Ebright was born on December 9th, 1940, in Pickerington Ohio, a place he forever cherished. From his earliest days, Ron was a unique individual who lived a bold life. He laughed often, loved deeply and spoke loudly (literally). He was a 1959 graduate of Pickerington Schools and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Ron was deeply patriotic and continued his service to others as a member of the American Legion Post 283 Honor Guard. He spent over 30 years working for and eventually retiring from Nickles Bakery. His retirement years were spent enjoying time with his beloved wife Sandy, traveling (especially to Branson, Missouri), attending the sporting events of grandkids, as a Red Coat at OSU for 15 years and a member of Reynoldsburg Community Church. Ron enjoyed refereeing and ticket taking at local sporting events for many years, as well as trips to Sam's club and chick-fil-a as he aged. Even when he didn't always show it, his life's deepest passions were undoubtedly his children and grandchildren, and of course, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ron was well known for speaking his mind, often at a volume that everyone could hear even when he tried to whisper. Being a jokester himself, he was also gullible at times which made it easy to play pranks on him and created some great memories among family and friends. Ron will surely be missed by loved ones but will live on in the memories he created throughout the years. His life was full of great love and happiness, and his death leaves a void that no one will ever fill. A proud American and sure firecracker of a man, it was only fitting that he left this world to rejoin his wife and loved ones and begin to experience his eternal freedom and peace on none other than Independence Day weekend, entering heaven on July 5, 2025.
Ron is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 33 years, Sandy Ebright; his parents, Paul and Lillian Ebright; brothers, Dean and Dennis Ebright; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ebright; brother-in-law, Jim Johnston; daughter, Jennifer Ebright; son-in-law and buddy, Chaun Cahall; Granddaughters, Elizabeth Grace and Natalie Christine, Niece Melissa Johnston; and his dogs, Dusty and Atlas.
He is survived by his kids, Mike, Brent, Emily, Amy (Mark) and Missy (Geoff), grandchildren, Nathan, Ashley, Grant (Kayla), Anna, and Jessica (David), great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Drew, Landon, Roman, Mia, Lyla, Tyler, Charlotte, Seth, Mikayla, Gabe, and Sera; brothers, Keith and Glenn (Kristi) Ebright, sisters-in law, Janis Ebright and Connie Johnston, brother-in-law, Bobby (Becky) Parsons, as well as many Nieces, Nephews, cousins, special friend Bill McNeer and other cherished friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday August 4th, 2025, at 11am at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home 550 Hill Road N, Pickerington, Ohio 43147 and interment will take place at Violet Cemetery shortly after. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Ron Ebright to the American Legion Post 283 Honor Guard or another military charity of your choice.
