Ronald (Ron) Carlile Hinds passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

Ron was born to Dorthy Mae (Frankenberger) Doland and Paul Harris Hinds in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 20,1944.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Jane Cline, brother Steven Yeater, sister Judy Yeater, brother Mark & Debbie Yeater, sister Glenna & Bob Plane, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron grew up in Colorado. At 15 his right hand was injured when it was caught in a pinion gear of a drilling rig. Due to his mother's perseverance, he was left with two fingers. This injury never hindered a thing Ron did. Ron was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. When Ron's stepfather died at 17, he stepped up to help his mother raise 7 children by herself. All his siblings were between the ages of three and nine. He worked for Highway Dept. in Alamosa, CO. Ron attended Trinidad State Jr. College. He worked for the Denver Water Department for 25 years as a draftsman and computer operator.

He married Marie Sheldon in 1970 and were married for 31 years. They were introduced to llamas in 1994 and then to the alpaca. Ron was one of the first alpaca pioneers in Colorado and was a major influence on building the Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies (ABR) organization. He served many of the board positions, designed the local area ranch maps. Ron and Marie owned Serendipity Farm and raised both llamas and alpacas for seven years.

He met Elizabeth in 2001, and they were married on February 24, 2003. In 2004, they then built their Farm, el Zorro Colorado Alpacas in Elizabeth, CO. In 2005, Ron was awarded the ABR coveted Pioneer award. Ron was also instrumental in the Rocky Mountain Llama Association, becoming their webmaster as well as a co-journal producer.

Ron will always be remembered for being the "fix-it/Build-It" guy. He was kind, loved what he did, helped everyone in every way he could, loved music and truly enjoyed life to the fullest. He and Elizabeth loved to travel and had a lot of unforgettable moments together. He was extremely proud of being active into his 80's.
