Ronald Lee Smith, 81, returned to his Heavenly Father February 9, 2025.
Ron was born in Americus, Georgia. He was a military dependent and lived in GA, KY, TN, SC, Germany. He joined the Navy Reserve at Myrtle Beach, High School, in SC.
Ronnie met his sweetheart, Kathleen, Feb 14 during their senior year. He joined the USAF and they wed in Texas in 1963. They were sealed to each other and their children in the SLC Temple in 1966. In the military he served in GA, Vietnam, OK, MO, AK, MD, UT, Panama and WY. He served honorably retiring in 1986.
Attending Weber State University he received a Bachelors degree (91) while working at IRS.
He enjoyed creating beautiful wood pieces on his lathe. He loved to hunt in years past but would always want to set up targets and go shooting. He was a jack of all trades able to fix anything.
He loved life to the max. His greatest loves, were his wife of 61 years, Kathleen Knowlden Smith, four sons, four daughters who all survive him. Ronald II (Ann), Sherrie (Nigel) Los, Michael (Andrea), Carrie (Brad) Matthew (Trystan), Marc (Jaime), Aimee (Matt) Hahn, and Tiffany (Dustin) Izatt.
He was an only child and his parents, Willie Lee Smith and Velma Gladys Greene Davison predeceased him. His posterity reached twenty four Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 5-6:00 p.m., at Pioneer Trail Ward, 5000 South 5900 West, Hooper, Ut with Burial with Military Honors at Utah Veteran's Cemetery & Memorial Park on Thursday, February 20th at noon.
