Ronald "Ronnie" Dean VanKirk, age 81, of Liberal, Missouri passed away August 23, 2024, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.
Ronnie was born September 20, 1942 in Liberal, MO., to Delbert Glenn Vankirk and Winifred Francis (Cullison) VanKirk. Ronnie graduated from Liberal High School in the class of 1960. On December 25, 1965, Ronnie married Karen Sue Bazil in Arkansas City, Kansas.
Ronnie worked for Wal-Mart as an assistant manager. He loved gardening, and both the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Liberal, MO; one son, Phillip (Tina) VanKirk of Lamar, MO; three daughters, Melinda (Duane) Adair of Pittsburg, KS, Jeannie (Kevin) Cambers of Neosho, MO, and Robyn VanKirk of Liberal, MO; one honorary daughter, Amanda (Dusty) Davidson of Liberal, MO; six grandchildren, Shelby (Saul) Luteka of Nairobi, Kenya, Shanda (Travis) Waterson of Lamar, MO, Kortney (Cody) Neal of Kimberling City, MO, Kelly VanKirk of Springfield, MO, Bryce Cambers of St. Louis, MO, Sammy May of Pittsburg, KS and honorary grandson, Rowdy Davidson of Liberal, MO; one great-grandchild, Amara Luteka of Nairobi, Kenya; one brother, Ken (Wai) VanKirk of Pittsburg, KS and one sister, Carolyn Pepper of Topeka, KS.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jimmy VanKirk, Gary VanKirk and Rick VanKirk; and one brother-in-law, Doyle Pepper.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Shiloh Cemetery in Liberal, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, MO.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to Shiloh Cemetery in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
