Ronald Gene Washington, after a long battle with a physical illness, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2025 while at the Tug Valley Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky. He was a former member of the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church of Lando Mines.
He was the son of the late James Washington Jr. and Sammy Loretta Washington. He was the grandson of Houston and Florence Knox and Rev. James Sr. and Callie C. Washington of Delbarton.
Ronald is survived by one son, Coby Muncy of Martin County, KY, two brothers, Donald and Byron Washington of Delbarton, WV, Two sisters, Carmen (Rev. Charles) Blackmon of Charleston, WV and Norma Washington of Norristown, PA, one uncle, Irvin (Lillian) Washington of Indianapolis, IN, and one aunt, Dorothy Washington of Delbarton, WV. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other family members.
He was a 1973 graduate of the Burch High School in Delbarton, West Virginia. He graduated from the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with an Associate's Degree, and also attended the West Virginia School of Technology in Montgomery, WV. He worked for many years in the construction industry as well.
Services for Ronald will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, WV on July 8, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. His brother-in-law, Rev. Charles Blackmon, will be officiating. Singing will be done by Pastor Debra Booker, his nephew, Chris Blackmon, and Tabitha Ball.. Burial will be to follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, West Virginia. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Trinity Nursing Home of Mingo. They would also like to thank family and friends for the comforting words, cards, flowers, and acts of kindness.
