Ronnie D. Hughes, 87, of Kingdom City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on July 2, 1938, in Columbia, Missouri, he was the son of the late David Leo Hughes and the late Mona (Hinshaw) Hughes.

On June 26, 1958, he married the love of his life, D.Ann (Brooks) Hughes, with whom he shared a devoted and loving marriage, and she survives his passing.

Ronnie proudly enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard on July 15, 1955, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned over four decades. Rising through the ranks with honor and dedication, he retired in 1998 as Command Sergeant Major. In 1960, he and D.Ann made their home in Kingdom City, Missouri.

Beyond his military career, Ronnie was a talented musician who spent 53 years playing in the country music bands, including his own, One for The Road, bringing joy to countless audiences at local venues and events across central Missouri. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and woodworking-passions that were a large part of his life.

Ronnie will be remembered as a devoted husband, loyal friend, proud veteran and for his love of music. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his wife, Ronnie is survived by his sons, Rick Hughes (Becky), Randy Hughes (Deby); daughters, DeDe Nichols (Kerry); sisters, Lynn Dothage (Kenny), Jo Sparks (Jeff); grandchildren, Michael Coleman (Shelby), Thomas Hughes (Deserae), Stephanie Hughes (Mitch), Joshua Hughes (Aubrey), Jordan Hughes (Cheyann), Logan Nichols (Symone), Quintin Nichols (Hannah), along with eight great grandchildren with 2 on the way, and several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, DeEtta Hughes, and sisters, Peggy Forbis and Shari Morrow.

Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Tisch officiating.
