Rose (Rosetta) Burnett, 65 years of age, went home to be with Jesus on July 13, 2025. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family. While her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, we rejoice in the hope and promise of eternity-that she is fully healed and resting in the presence of her Savior.
Rose was born on February 24, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Thomas and Mary-Rose Bodner. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gordon “Butch” Burnett; her children, Michael Burnett (Carrie) of Bloomington, Indiana, Eric Burnett (Rebecca) of New Albany, Indiana, and Emily Mack (Dominique Mack) of Sellersburg, Indiana; her beloved sister, Mary Anderson of Louisville, Kentucky; her mother-in-law, Lois Burnett of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and her adored grandchildren, Ryleigh and Reid Burnett, Leighton and Liam Burnett, and Malakai (Kai) and Kinsley Mack. She is also survived by a cherished circle of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Rose and Butch shared 45 years of marriage rooted in faith, love, and laughter-a true example of lasting devotion to each other and their family.
Rose faithfully served her family, community, and Lord with unmatched kindness and a servant’s heart. She was always looking for simple ways to make someone’s day a little brighter-whether through a warm meal, a helping hand, or words of encouragement. Her home, like her heart, was a place of laughter, comfort, and unconditional love.
Rose was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother-roles she embraced with her whole heart. She poured herself into raising her children with strength, tenderness, and wisdom, and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, greeting them with a gleeful “Hi baby, it’s Grandma!” and holding each one close in both words and heart. Her family was her foundation, and she nurtured it with unwavering love and devotion.
She also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Chubbs and Hazel, who were showered with affection (and more treats than most would admit). Rose found happiness in life’s simple joys-being on the go, shopping, and spending time with those she loved. Her laughter lit up every room, and her presence made others feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for.
Rooted in faith, strength, and selfless love, Rose lived a life marked by grace and generosity. Though she will be deeply missed, her light lives on in every life she touched.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150. Rose’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. To celebrate her spirit, guests are encouraged to wear her favorite colors-purple or blue-or other colors that reflect her bright personality.
